Darshan

Page history last edited by rgs 14 years, 3 months ago

Easily identifiable by the clanking of his armor, Darshan's (Svarshan, draconic) one of the Good King's Sunblades. He comes from a culture that had no tradition of paladins, and entered into a Myrrish household...and found human ideals, ways of thinking, vastly different than his own. As the Lady Serene once said, not sinking a toothsome whole into your enemy is a human trait, not a paladin one, so he strives to find the balance and understand what, exactly, it means to be both a sith'makar and a paladin. So far, he's the only one and may the gods thank themselves for it.

He was born in Am'shere, though served for a time under the Lady Madrienne of house Mandara. The Lady, Lady Mandara, entered into his life in his early to mid-teens. Both young and interested in other worlds, they found friendship and someone to talk with.

In a sense, they grew up together, but it was very much an unequal relationship once they traveled to Myrridion. She'd taught him to survive among nobles, adding a polish never expected among a sith-makar, though this "polish" of human or elven manners never rested well on a sith'makar's shoulders. Signals, cues were too different. Instincts of softskin and draconic warred with one another. To add to the strain was public perception: the lady received some ridicule for a sith in her service, but his status as Chosen by Daeus quelled many, though not all, tongues. Her own stares did the rest, and if not that, his.

The unequal relationship ruptured their friendship, though. A modern-day comparison to his place within Myrrish culture might be to the "re-education" of tribal people in the West, and this Darshan found himself in, confined and ready to explode the next time he was asked to hold a chair.

The tension resulted in a series of unfortunate events, which he bore the worst and his superior, Agril, the second-most, and eventually they led to the formal severing of ties to the Myrrish household. It's better now, that friendship, with the pressures removed from it. He's since taken his draconic name, Svarshan instead of its Common-tongued equivalent, and moved to a house of his own, in Am'shere's style, as part of that severance.

He's published one book, Reflections Scaleside, and holds a number of decorations from various wars and events, the most recent of which is the Versis Order of the Griffon. He prefers keeping his head down, though. Visually speaking, he stands out enough on his own.

Useful Things

Every now and then, I make a project or two that looks like it'd be useful to well, more than just me. When that happens, I'll post these here. The following are for you to use freely, but the usual "at your own risk" applies. Note, I've no way of testing the Excel conversions. These files are archived here because honestly, I have nowhere else to put them. :)
