Warrior Druid

Druids are diverse and potent followers of the wild with a deep connection to the land, the skies, and nature itself.

Some choose to embrace a more martial approach to defending nature, fighting with the aid of their wild shape.

Many warrior druids multiclass with a melee class for martial training, gaining useful military training and entering the path of the warrior druid more quickly. Some focus on their druidic ways until 8th level, taking advantage of better spellcasting (and favored class bonuses) before taking the warrior druid path.

While warrior druids often use their wild shape in battle, many find it useful to stay in their original form and channel their wild shape abilities to become more formidable warriors. Such knights of the wild can grow claws, run at great speeds, gain powerful base natural armor, and pounce on her enemies, all while wearing armor and using weapons.

Role: The Warrior Druid sacrifices spell ability and many druid class abilities to focus on using wild shape effectively, becoming their own most powerful weapon.

Alignment: Warrior druids share the alignment restrictions of core druids. They tend to lean towards lawful or chaotic alignments and not as often good or evil.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Warrior druids gain no additional weapon or armor proficiencies.

Wild Shape (Su)

A warrior druid adds her level to druid levels for the purposes of how wild shape functions, such as elemental forms and so forth.

The warrior druid gains an additional use of wild shape at first level and every other level thereafter. At 10th level she can wild shape at will.

Wild shape per day is still relevant after 10th level for the purposes of wild feats gained through shape lore.

Wild Empathy (Ex): Warrior shaper level adds directly to druid level for the purposes of wild empathy; warrior shapers gain an appreciation and understanding of other animals.

Embrace of the Wild

A warrior druid may learn monster feats. These feats only apply while in a form that meets the feat’s prerequisites.

Warrior Lore

At certain levels the warrior druid learns one of the following feats if they meet the prerequisites:

Any monster feat, Knockback (only while in a Large form or bigger), Rampaging Bull Rush (only while in a Large form or bigger), Reckless rage, Weapon Focus (natural attacks only)

Note that Rampaging Bull Rush and Reckless Rage require Rage class ability, Wolverine's Rage, or some other ability to rage.

Shape Lore

At certain levels the warrior druid learns one of the following feats:

Boar’s Ferocity, Cheetah’s Speed, Eagle’s Wings, Elephant’s Hide, Extra Wild Shape, Fast Wild Shape, Grizzly’s Claws*, Lion’s Pounce, Oaken Resilience, Serpent’s Venom, Swim like a Fish, Wolverine’s Rage

* suggested PF amendment: Currently, Grizzly’s claws give you claws dealing damage equal to short sword for your size (d6 for Medium)

Suggestion: use default claws as per Universal Monster Rules; 1d4 at Medium size. This is more consistent with PF rules.

Evasion (Ex)

At 4th level, a warrior druid gains Evasion. If she already has Evasion she gains Improved Evasion.

Spellcasting

Caster level increases by one per level starting at warrior druid level 5 (that is, druid caster level = druid level + warrior druid level -4.) This does not affect spells per day or spells known.

Spellcaster level increases by one at level 7 and 10. This affects caster level, as well as spell advancement.
